"The devil seeks to shame the innocent into hiding, and to cover up the crimes of the guilty"
The devil would like nothing better than to keep your story a secret and you in a dark place. In the dark there is shame and fear. When pain, hurts, and sin stay hidden, we stay captive to them. They become a prison.
However, when we bring those things to the light, when we confess them to Jesus, when we share our stories, when we expose the hurts, we can be healed.
I love how the Good News (GNBDC) puts Ephesians 5:13-14:
"And when all things are brought out to the light, then their true nature is clearly revealed; for anything that is clearly revealed becomes light. That is why it is said: "WAKE UP sleeper, and RISE from death, and Christ will shine on you."
Wow! How powerful is that!
The devil comes to Kill, Steal, and Destroy. He wants nothing better than to Kill you and your hope, Steal your Identity and your self worth, and to Destroy your destiny and your testimony. Because of this, he will make us feel so ASHAMED and Guilty, that we keep it to ourselves.
But, we need to remember this: we are created in HIS (God) image. Therefore we are to be like Him. 1John 1: 5, says:
"This then is the Message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God IS LIGHT, and IN HIM is NO darkness at all."
Verse 7 tells us that we are to be IN the Light, as He is in the light. So, I encourage you Brothers and Sisters, DON'T be ashamed of your story. Tell others, share what God has brought you out of. Someone needs to hear your story. You are the inspiration they are looking for. The light in a dark and weary land.
